How Attribution Works
When a guest books your property, Hostmatic traces their journey back to the original source. It combines data from:
- Google Analytics — Tracks which channels bring visitors to your site
- Hostmatic Link Tracker — Identifies clicks from your shortened links and campaigns
- Booking data — Matches confirmed reservations from Guesty or Airbnb calendars
Traffic Sources
Common sources you'll see:
| Source | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Organic Search | Visitors who found your site via Google, Bing, etc. |
| Direct | Visitors who typed your URL or used a bookmark |
| Social | Traffic from Facebook, Instagram, X, Pinterest, etc. |
| Referral | Clicks from other websites linking to yours |
| Traffic from email campaigns | |
| Hostmatic Links | Clicks from your tracked shortened links |
Using Attribution Data
- High-converting sources deserve more investment
- High-traffic but low-converting sources may need better landing pages
- Underperforming channels can be deprioritized or optimized
Tip: Create separate Hostmatic tracking links for each marketing channel (Instagram bio, email footer, business card). Go to Link Shortener in the sidebar to create them, and tag each with a campaign name so they show up in your attribution report.
Requirements
For full attribution data, connect these from the Integrations page in the sidebar:

- At least one Hostmatic tracking link (campaign tracking)
